European Rail Information Centre

ERIC represents a modular and continuously updated information system on railway freight transport. The database encompasses a wide offer of tariff, information, form and document modules. Updated information is provided from a processing centre in electronic form, and in various forms depending on the users´ needs and in several European languages.

The fundamental aspect of an electronic information system lies in a well-established centre for data gathering. Information is received from various sources connected with railway freight in Europe and part of Asia. The original data is processed into a computer format, translated and made accessible to all railway users.

The system is designed for customers and users in the following forms:

• Local application: for PC equipped with MS Windows;
• Internet application: operating on a web page http://eric.jerid.cz/;
• Dynamic libraries: DLL for incorporation to various user systems;
• Library of relating documents: in full version in electronic form;
• Web services for sending requests to the centre from users applications via the Internet.

The database is typical for:

• Multilingualism: currently, the database is offered in 4 languages - English, German, Polish and Czech;
• Modularity: users can select modules essential for their business activities and create their own optimal configuration;
• Continuous and regular update: all information in the database is constantly monitored and revised immediately in the event of change.
